Summary
This is the most popular route although not the most scenic. It is also the fastest route to summit point Lenana.This classic route up Mount Kenya passes though the notoriously treacherous vertical bog and into the wide Teleki Valley beneath the Tryndall, The Lewis Glacier.
Though the summit can be reached in 4 days as per the below itinerary, we strongly recommend an overnight acclimatization at the base, Naromoru River Lodge. This can be arranged for at an extra fee.

Day 1: Nairobi – Nanyuki
Depart Nairobi in shared transport for Mount Kenya area – arrive Nanyuki late afternoon. Afternoon acclimatize .Dinner and overnight at Samba’s hotel

Day 2: Nanyuki  - Judmier Camp (Old Moses Camp) 3-4 Hrs, 9km, 860m Ascent
After breakfast proceed to Sirimon Gate, 1 hr, 2440m. From the gate follow the track as it winds uphill though the forest which becomes heath land after about 3 hrs. About 3½ hours from the gate the track veers right to Judmier Camp, 3300m for dinner and overnight, L, D

Distance: 90 km start and end Nairobi

A combination of the two of Mount Kenyas most challenging and scenic routes , from the lush green forests and U-shaped valleys of Sirimon to the unique features of the temple, mushroom rocks and the Gorge Valleys on the Chogoria approach side . There are several contrast in micro-climatic conditions, Chogoria route being wetter and more moist than Sirimon route. This itinerary accommodations are in huts and camping .

The Chogoria route is our recommended and arguably the most magnificent ascent route to the summit area. It is the driest route up the mountain and the walk beside the Gorges Valley truly spectacular. The descent by the Sirimon route takes one through some beautiful forest tracks and completes the traverse of the mountain.
